Packaging for " Δελφική Γη"

Packaging: Dimitris Klonos

3D illustration: Dimitris Klonos

Once I created the logo for "Δελφική Γη", it was time to create the packaging. I created a label with a vector illustration of people collecting olives with the traditional method. This was also a nice excuse to practise my 3D skills so I can make a better presentation of my work.

This is a corporate spot for BMtools. It was a part of an event relevant to tools and agricultural resources and tools. The 3D preview is always helpful to get an idea of what the finished product will look like.

Photorealistic packaging mockups and retouch for Mellin honey

Mockup Illustrations: Dimitris Klonos
Retouch: Dimitris Klonos
Photography: Dimitris Petratzas
Client: Mellin

This is a photorealistic approach of the product Mellin. 90% of the work is CGI. Photographs have been used as a base of study in all the paper packages. The glass bottles are photos slightly retouched with the safety tape created on the computer. The silver logo on the package has also been photographed.

We decided to present the packshots this way, in order to have a perfect outcome on all the product's flavours.

3D illustration for print ad campaign

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos
Art Director: Eleni Kremida
Copywriter:  Natasa Vourgana
Creative Manager: Natasa Vourgana
Advertising agency: Havas Worldwide Athens
Client: Attica bank

I was called to illustrate a 3D visual for Attica bank's campaign. The creative idea behind this ad is that Attica gives you the best perspective on your interest rates. The visual is a 3 dimensional rate that needed to be rendered on a certain angle of the camera in order to dramatize it's perspective.

low polygon illustration

 3D illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This is an experimental 3D illustration using the low poly style. Low poly 3D style gives a more abstract effect and as a result it offers a more creative way to use 3D aesthetics. Experimenting with creative 3D techniques is as interesting as using 3D to create photo realistic cg images.

3D stratocaster electric guitar modeling

3D modeling: Dimitris Klonos
Photoshop color correction: Dimitris Klonos

This is a stratocaster type electric guitar in 3D. The stratocaster type is one of the most famous electric guitar type of all time. As a result, this masterpiece of industrial design inspired me to create a 3D model based on a real strat.

The color of the body of the guitar is the famous sunburst. One of the reasons I have created this 3D model is that I want to experiment with different illustrations and paint jobs on the body and the pickguard of the guitar. Having a 3D model is really easy to change colors and designs in order to study how a certain picture looks on the strat. In future I'll post more on the subject.

Recycling design! Candle holders

Industrial design: Dimitris Klonos
3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This is an idea of how to recycle old glass bottles and scrap wood to create candle holders. These candle holders are ideal for outdoor use, because the candle light cannot be put out by air currents. On the images above you can see 3D models of a triplet and a single candle holder and you can also see o real prototype of the single one. The prototype is made from a scrap piece of plywood and an old wine bottle.

This is the Douwe Egberts spot, created especially for a fashion show! So it had to be glamourus and stylish while also being Douwe Egberts.

Client: Douwe Egberts

In this case, we designed from scratch the Douwe Egberts spot in a super market. The construction included a "bar" area, a "take your picture" area and a "gaming area"! it was really impressive to see something like that while shopping in a supermarket.

The actual event looked like that:

This is indeed a Mega construction. It was placed in super markets to promote Douwe Egberts instant coffee with flavours. Full branded in big scale. It did make a stand inside the super market.

3D character modeling

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos
Character design: Dimitris Klonos

This is the first time, I've managed to create
a 3D model out of a hand made sketch.

Practice makes you better and after many
attempts, I believe I'm getting close to
decent character modeling.

It's a very interesting process and I really
enjoy digitalizing my hand drawings, because
you still have the hand's natural feel,
combined with a digitalized modern
effect!

Hope you like it!

3D character modeling

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This 3D character modeling attempt.
I draw the blueprints of a face, I scanned them
and placed them in my 3d workspace.

I've created it polygon by polygon based
on my blueprints. I've only designed half of the face,
I've put it in a symmetry object and the rest
just mirrored itself.

It's my first let's say successful attempt
of drawing a face in 3D.

Although it's a very painfull procedure, I really
enjoy these things. It's also amazing
the fact, that every time I try this type of
modeling I become better and better.

Although I'm still far far far away from
perfection.

Anyway, hope you like it!

3D Face and forms

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This is a face modeling experiment using the box modeling
technique. Once again I left my subconscious mind
unfold.

Still learning the mysteries of the 3D world, I tried
to express my self through  the computer
once again.

I haven't used scanned blueprint sketches.
Everything just come out, through improvisation.
Hope you like it.

Leaf chair

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos
Industrial design: Dimitris Klonos

I really like design concepts that are inspired by nature.
I believe nature can provide us with endless inspirations
for everything.

I wanted to design a chair that would reflect
calmness. So I thought that a folded leaf, a symbol
of nature's harmony would provide me with an
interesting form.

I imagine reading a book or, relaxing after work
in a chair like that. Like a lazy insect
that found refuge on a nice fresh beautiful leaf.

I hope you like my leaf chair, maybe some day
someone would meditate on one of these!

3D abstract experiment

3D Abstract Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

In this 3D case study, I was playing with shapes, forms and the way
they interact with different lighting soft boxes. So I came out with
this this synthesis.

The basic shapes are placed in a cubic soft box, a spot light is
facing the front view and the rest is about the glossy reflecting
materials I've added on my forms.

The posibilities of light and form combinations
are just endless!

3D classical guitar experiment

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This is a modeling and lighting experiment of a classical guitar.
I didn't use blueprints during modeling, so the shape
of the guitar is a bit weird. I am fascinated with the world of 3D
so I hope in future I'll have more stuff to present.

Mastering the third dimension is a challenge for me
and I really enjoy the procedure.

I hope the 3D masters will excuse my mistakes.
I promise I'll be better next time.
